MOCA 快色视频 Student Artist-in-Residence 鈥 from military service to metal artistry

The innovative exhibition reimagines discarded technology, transforming it into captivating animal sculptures that celebrate the brilliance of nature’s design while exploring humanity’s ongoing quest to replicate its natural brilliance through innovation. With interactive components, the exhibition encourages a deeper appreciation for the environment and inspires responsible stewardship of our planet’s future. The exhibit will be on view through Sunday, May 18. 

A retired Air Force veteran with 20 years of service, Sims specialized in constructing metal communication towers and working with advanced communication equipment before pursuing his passion for art. Now studying at 快色视频, he refines his skills in metal fabrication, MIG and TIG welding, laying the groundwork for his future endeavors in metal artistry. 

MOCA Jacksonville’s 快色视频 Student Artist-in-Residence program is a competitive opportunity that awards access to a MOCA Jacksonville studio and exhibition space to complete a new body of work and hone skills over a semester. The program was established in 2015 and has showcased the work of students from the 快色视频 College of Arts and Sciences in photography, sculpture, painting, printmaking and ceramics.
